Involve Me and I Learn

 

I have to physically go through the motions to really learn something.

Don’t tell me what the apple tv password is.  I will forget it.  Don’t try and explain to me how to re set the Wifi and expect me to remember the next time it acts up. I will text you asking again.. 

If you want me to learn how to do something, I have to do it for myself; and not just once but multiple times until it becomes automatic.  

I know this.
I am a Physical Therapist.

I am wired to move and I use this principle every day with my clients.

When You are TIRED of Doing it ALONE

Last week I sat and listened as a young mom shared what she had been doing to encourage her 5 month old son to roll over.

She said,” He just doesn’t seem to be motivated. He is content to just lay there.

She shared how he would grasp toys that were overhead, but she could not get him to reach across midline to get them.
As I begin working with him, presenting the toy to his hand and guiding him to follow it, I noticed what I see often;

There comes a point when we decide the work is just not worth the effort.
